What is difference between food allergy and intolerance?

These two are different though the symptoms of both are same. Food allergy is so dangerous that you can threat your life even by seeing the food for which you are allergic but this is not case with intolerance and generally food allergy is life long.

    Dear All,

As per me, food allergy and intolerance in connection with food is totally different terms.

    1. Food allergy: A food allergy is an adverse immune response to a food protein.A protein in the food is the most common allergic component. These kinds of allergies occur when the body's immune system mistakenly identifies a protein as harmful.

    2. Food intolerance or non-allergic food hypersensitivity is a term used widely for varied physiological responses associated with a particular food, or compound found in a range of foods.
