Historical Masterpieces: Kalka Shimla Railway Line

This is a very beautiful pograph of the snow covered Kalka Shimla Railway Line. It was constructed in the year 1906 by the British engineers in order to improve the accessibility. The railway route from Kalka to Shimla consists of 806 bridges and 103 tunnels in total. The entire track finds its way through the hills surrounded by lush green vegetation. Kalka Shimla Railway Line is considered as the remarkable piece of work by the British engineers and hence it came to be known as the ‘British Jewel of the Orient’. Kalka Shimla Railway Line has been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 2008. This recognition to this railway line made it world famous.
