Shimla has been the all time favourite tourist spot. Even during the British era, the English people made ‘Simla’ as the summer capital of India. During summer season most of the high British officials used to come to Shimla to escape from the hot weather in the central India.The used to feel relieved and relaxed in this beautiful hill station covered by tall depdar trees all around. Fantastic buildings shaped by British engineers still provide the proof of their residences here in Shimla. Summer Season in Shimla:

In the middle of the year that is May and June, when the entire nation is burning hot, Shimla is the place which has a very pleasant weather. The temperature during the summer season ranges between 25 to 30 degree Celsius in Shimla, which is pretty low as compared to other states. So for the people who are perspiring excessively and want to get a break from their work, Shimla is the best place to visit during summer season.

Green Deodar trees sheltering the beautiful Shimla act as the warm wind cooler. They keep the temperature cool and pleasant. Moreover hotels and restaurant in Shimla provides special facilities for the tourists during the summer season. Nearby places to Shimla like Kufri and Narkanda are even at greater altitudes and cooler. Tourists can thus drive few kilometers ahead to visit these places.

‘Summer Festival in Shimla’ is also one of the tourist attractions during this season. Summer Festival is an annual festival celebrated in the beginning of the June month in Shimla. A huge stage is set up on the Ridge, Shimla, with good sitting arrangement for thousands of people. Various professional artists like singers, dancers, bands etc. are invited from various parts of the country to give their performances. The Summer Festival lasts for three days. Himachali folk performances are the centre of attraction in this festival. Tourists really enjoy having a glance of such performances and getting to know about the beautiful Himachal culture.

Christmas & New Year Celebrations in Shimla:

This is the best and peak time for the tourists to come and enjoy holidays in Shimla. Christmas and New Year time is generally called the tourist season in Shimla. The prime reason for this is the chilly winter season. Most of the people from lower and central India have a great craze to have a view of snowfall as it is a dream for them. Visiting Shimla at this point of time turns their dream into reality as snowfall is most common during these days.

Hotels are flooded with reservations and bookings. Attractive facilities are provided for the tourists during this season. Special parties, functions are organized specially for the tourists. Christmas day and the night before the New Year have special arrangements for the tourists to make their holidays special. Though hotels may seem expensive during winter season but the contentment and satisfaction one gets from their services is worth praising.

On the eve of Christmas people come and gather near the holy church on the Ridge Shimla. Prayers are done. Many tourists come and join at this festive time and enjoying the chilly weather at the same time. The eve before the New Year(31st December) is just a blast. A huge gathering on the Mall Road and Ridge can be seen enjoying. Branded showrooms, restaurants and various other shops provide heavy discounts on the purchase of goods for the tourists. It is really thrilling to be a part of New Year eve in Shimla.
