The delightful estate of Pragpur also known as Garli-Pragpur is located in the Kangra valley. It was notified as the Heritage Village on 9th December 1997 by the state Government of Himachal Pradesh. Garli is 4km away from Pragpur and is the part of this Heritage zone. This declaration by the state Government has encouraged the Rural Heritage Tourism. The village was designed and built by Kuthiala Soods in the 17th century in the memory of Princess Prag Dei of the Jaswan Royal Family. The name Pragpur came from the word “Prag”.
The ancient history of Pragpur is reflected by its admirable buildings, cobbled stone streets, inherited houses and various other pleasing structures. This place is best suited for those who give appreciation to preserved Heritage as its legacy is diversified. Trip to Pragpur can also be made in your own comfort zone as the nearest rail head to pragpur is only 60km away at Una. The nearest airport is at Chandigarh which is around 175km away.
