    Pin Valley National Park

Himachal Pradesh is not just about snow in the winters and trekking in the summers. There are some really lovely nature parks which will keep you enthralled.

One of these is the Pin Valley National Park. What is unique about this park is that it is the sole National Park in the State which is bang in the midst of a desert region!

Located in Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, this national park is supposedly home to the exotic Siberian ibex and the Snow Leopard as well as Tibetan Wolves. You are not likely to actually see them, though, as there have not been acutal sightings. What you can possibly sight are the Red Fox, Weasel, Marten (akin to the weasel), and Bharal (Himalyan blue sheep). The majestic cedars and alpines in the Park are also home to numerous avians, such as the snowfich and the unique Himalayan snowcock. Bird-watching hobbyists would love to explore this Park!

When to Visit: April to May and November (this month is best to see animals). Avoid the month of December (except if it at the very beginning of the month) as the weather is unbearably chilly. July and August months are ideal if you are a flora nature lover and want to see not wildlife but plant life. Whichever season you decide to visit, though, it is best to contact the Park Authorities well before you plan your trip so as to gear up for the climate and get information on Park approach routes and timings.
