B.Tech VIIth Semester Examination, Object-Oriented Methods and Programming, December 2009

Note: Attempt five questions in all, selecting one from each Section A, B, C and D and all parts of Section E. All the sections carry equal marks (each question=20 marks).

Section-A

1. Explain with suitable examples the advantages of using Object-oriented programming over Procedure oriented programming language.

2.What is Inheritance? Explain different types of inheritance by giving examples?

Section- B

3.Write a program in C++ with constructor, default constructor and destructor to read a set of lines from stdin and store them in an Array A, again read a string from stdin and check whether the given string S is in the array A. If it is, remove the string S from the array A and print the updated array on the stdout e.g. A=Calcutta, S=Cut updated array A is Calta?

4.What is Operator Overloading? Explain by giving suitable examples.

Section- C

5.In C++ what do you mean by Protected inheritance? Explain how a protected data of the base class can be accessed by the public member function of the derived class.

6.Write a program in C++ to copy the contents of a text file into the another.

Section- D

7.During an object design, what are the minimum steps to be taken by the designs? Explain in detail.

8.Explain the Entity-relationship modeling.

Section- E

9.Attempt all the questions:

(a) What are the salient features of object-oriented design in software engineering?
(b) How macros differ from functions in C++?
(c) What is the use of scope resolution operator in C++?
(d) What is Late binding? How is it implemented?
(e) What are the steps to be taken for constructing a dynamic model?
(f) What is a Metadata? What is its use?
(g) Differentiate between Implicit subtyping and Explicit inheritance?
(h) What is Functional modeling?
(i) List the C++ operators that can be overloaded for binary usages.
(j) How do Polymorphism and Overriding work together?
