Kufri, a small town located at a distance of about 13kms from the city, Shimla is a beautiful tourist spot that experiences heavy snowfall during winters. Kufri's proximity to Shimla makes it the second best option to visit after Shimla.

Snowfall has always added to the beauty of the Quenn of Hills, Shimla. Due to high altitude of the capital city, Shimla, it experiences snowfall in the months of December, January and February. Craze for snowfall, snow sports has always been attracting tourists in bulk from the rest of the country to Shimla and Kullu Manali.

Kufri- A Miniature Hill Station Near Shimla

After reaching Shimla, what strikes next in the tourists mind is to visit the beautiful place Kufri. Kufri is a small hill station located at a distance of just 13 kms from the main Shimla. Kufri is situated at a chilling height of 2,510 metres above the sea level. Kufri experiences heavy snowfall in the months of December and January. Kufri is famous for snow sports like skiing. People here rent out the skiing equipments at nominal prices and guide the tourists so that they can enjoy the snow with snow sports. There are number of picnic spots, hiking and trekking trails in Kufri. Horse and yak riding during snowfall in Kufri has its own charm.

Himalayan National Park in Kufri is another piece of attraction to the visitors. Birds and animals found prominently in Himachal can be seen here. Mahasu Peak and Indira Tourist Park are other famous places to visit in Kufri. Annual Winter Sports Festival and Carnival is also organized in Kufri to boost snow sports among youth. Scenic view and heavy snowfall in Kufri has been attracting Bollywood since years. The famous Shami Kapoor’s song, ‘Chahe Koi Mujhe Juglee Kahe’ was shot in Kufri only.

Beautiful resorts are available in Kufri area for the tourists providing all essential amenities. It is best to visit Kufri during summers as at this point of time the entire India is sweating with hot loo, while Kufri has a mild and cool climate. Most of the tourists love visiting Kufri during winters as they love to see the snowfall.
