      District Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh is surrounded by the lush green hills of Himalayas. Bilaspur was a ‘C’ state before 1954.On 1st July 1954 ,the neighboring part ‘C’ state of Bilaspur was integrated with Himachal Pradesh. Raja Bir Chand is known as the founder of Bilaspur district. Before independence Bilaspur district was known as “Sat-dhar-kahlur” means Kahlur of the seven hills. According to 2001 census report Bilaspur has the population of 3,40,735. The sex ratio of Bilaspur district is 992:1000 i.e. for every 1000 males there are 992 females. The main languages spoken by the people of Bilaspur district are Kehluri ,Hindi and Punjabi. The total area of Bilaspur district is 1068 square km.

      : This festival is celebrated in the month of January.

      2.Makkar Sakranthi:

      It is celebrated just on the next day of Lohri festival.

      3.Shivaratri:

      It is celebrated in the month of February.

      4.Holi:

      This festival is celebrated in the month of March every year.

      5.Nalwari Fair in Bilaspur:

      Nalwari fair is being held in Bilaspur every year in the month of September. This fair is being attended by thousands of people. Nalwari fair is celebrated on Luhnu ground in Bilaspur. Nalwari fair is declared as state fair of Himachal Pradesh.

      6.Diwali:

      Diwali is one the main festival celebrated in district Bilaspur. It is being held in the month of October or November every year.

      Religion of people in Bilaspur:

      The major percentage of people in Bilaspur is Hindu. People of other religion such as Sikh, Muslim are also found in Bilaspur.

      Ambala railway station is about 160 km from district Bilaspur.
