College life of any individual is a vital part of his/her life. Especially when you live away from your home. Because we got a chance to live a life in our own style and learn lot of things. Like anyone’s college life mine has also been a great journey.

I am a final year student of Institute of Engineering And Emerging Technologies Baddi ( Distt.Solan ).I joined this college on 24th august 2006. Mind was full of tensions and excitements. As it was beginning of my college life. And moreover earlier my father was not willing to send me to this college as we had come to know that weather conditions are not good here, it’s very hot. And as we entered BharatGarh (diversion for Baddi while coming from Una). Nothing else was there than sand. It will not be wrong if I would call this place “Desert of Himachal Pradesh”. My father was looking at me with a tension on his face. But with me it was just ok, because I wanted to explore life.
We reached college. And then we went to hostel for getting room. But as we were late, so only few rooms were left. And finally after some arguments with warden I got a seven seated Dorm. I was not happy with it. And I believe none of my other roommates would be Happy after getting a Dorm. Moreover I was very worried about how I will be able to cope with the environment. I had my six roomies each belonging to different a corner of Himachal. I had a cousin in the college who came to my hostel to meet me. And I still remember the first thing she told to me was “don’t take studies too seriously, my own aggregate is 69%”.I am mentioning it because I think this thing has a great impact on my mind as I never took studies seriously in my whole college life. And at that time she was placed in Infosys.
Next day was the first day of my college life. It was ok. I had found friends. And yes my roomies were all very good. And I was the only introvert among them. But very soon we became great friends and had created a homely environment. Every night we had late night talks, with any sort of eating stuff. Many times it was ‘those hard chapattis of mess, which tastes yam with ghee and shakkar or achar. We never sleep till late nights.
If I come to studies, then it was like Who Cares. Although I was good in studies till my 12th class, In first semester of my B.tech, one subject which troubled me a lot was Engineering Drawing . Reason was we (me and my two friends) were always late to our class. And after we come back to hostel we forget about everything until the day before our next ED class as we had to complete our ED sheets. And that used to be the day when we wander in other classmate’s rooms to get there sheets and copy them. Another important thing of first year is Ragging. It was not a typical ragging. But still we had to follow some rules. Like girls must be in suits, and boys in formal. And we used to go in a queue to college, with our eyes down. After coming back to hostel again seniors visit our hostel to take our introduction .In this way first year was blend of both fun and difficulties.
The remaining two and half years of college In IEET, Baddi, I don’t know when they came and passed away. I think that I have lived the real college life in these years. And therefore that is the most unforgettable period of my life. Bunking classes and then sitting in cafeteria with friends for hours. Making pranks on each other, those fights with friends are simply priceless. People came , became good friends and left also, but some precious one are still there.
Now when I have entered into last semester of my degree, And after it I will become a computer science engineer. But thought of leaving this place really bring tears in eyes.During this whole journey there were times when we all have cursed everything about this college. Whether it be Hostel facilities, Mess meals, poor internet service or anything. But above all I love this place. I have learned lot many things here.
So, in the end I would like to say that I loved my college life in IEET, Baddi. And I am definitely going to miss every single thing of this place.
