Education in Shimla

Shimla being the capital city of Himachal Pradesh , it can also be called as the education hub of the state. In this halcyon small town ,Shimla ,which is famous for its scenic beauty ‘the tree of education’ has also being growing year after year like the tall and huge Deodars on the mountains of this hill station , for over many decades. The calm and peacefull environment in Shimla is the most favourable condition for giving a start to educating young minds as well as for attaining higher education i.e. the graduation and PG courses.

Some of the very best educational institutions are situated in Shimla , if we talk about schools , Convent of Jesus and Mary , St. Edwards, Sacred Heart Convent , DAV Public School , Shimla Public School ,Bishop Cotton School , Auckland House School, Dyanand Public School are counted among some of the best schools not only in the state but also in the country .

As far as higher education is concerned the town contains Countries oldest girls college – St. Beads ,Rajkiya Kanya Maha Vidyalaya , The Center of Excellence, Rajeev Gandhi College , and the Himachal Pradesh University itself . Last but surely not the least The Indian Institute of Advanced Study , which is only one in INDIA, is situated here in Shimla . Sholars from all over the world come here to pusrue their further studies even after completing their post graduation and for research on different subjects .

Some of the schools mentioned above are affiliated to the International council of Secondary Education (ICSE) board which is supposed to be the best board of education because of the vast knowledge they cover in the curiculum regaurding different subjects . And some are affiliated to the CBSE (central board of secondary education ) board ,which is followed by most of the schools in INDIA.

Inspite of the fact that Shimla is a very small town as compared to the U.Ts and metropolitan cities in INDIA and the level of competition and exposure is less here still the level of education and knowledge does not get lesser at all , instead it grows and achieves a better level each day . All the credit goes to the very old and experienced institutions built in the past and the community of very confident and sound teaching staff . The schools no doubt impart great deal of valuable knowledge in every feild including the sharpening of communication skills and gaining a totaly different and impressive level of confidence in their students . Education is undoubtedly unquestionable in Shimla as far as the matriculation level is concerned .

Due to the education system in India students preffer to do their 12th from a CBSE affiliated institution and It is a fact that there is a scarsity of high schools after completing matric in Shimla . There are very less number of fairly good institutions which provide high school education as compared to matric level . So the students have no way out of this problem than to take the step of migrating towards other big cities in order to attain further education .
Same is the case with higher studies i.e. graduation and post graduation , the non professional degree courses are no doubts quite satisfiying in colleges of Shimla but except the H.P. university no other college provides the students the facility of professional degree courses . It offers B.tech in Information Technology stream.

However many professional institutons are coming up nowadays in Shimla it will further enhance the level of education in Shimla and automaticaly of the state too.
