Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal’s Meeting with World Bank, Costa Rica.

Recently Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal had a meeting with the World Bank authorities in Costa Rica, Washington. The result of Dhumal’s meeting with World Bank brought a positive result to the state. After discussions in the meeting with World Bank officers in Washington, the World Bank has finally agreed to sanction Himachal Pradesh Programmatic Development Policy Loan (DPL) of US $450 million for sustainable environment growth. This loan was agreed by looking into various excellent achievements and initiatives of the Himachal govt. in keeping the environment clean. In fact, Himachal has a path breaking track record in environmental growth front.

World Bank praised the initiatives and efforts taken by Himachal government in terms of environment growth and sustenance. Now as World Bank has given assistance to Himachal government by providing DPL, it will excel in its efforts making Himachal much better.

Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal highlighted that Community Led Assessment, Awareness, Advocacy and Action Programme (CLAP) that was initiated for Environment protection and Carbon Neutrality at small levels in the state was highly appreciated by the Costa Ricans. High delegates from Costa Rica will visit Himachal will acquaint themselves with these programmes by paying visits to gram panchayats. Costa Ricans will also study various ongoing environment related programmes in Himachal during their visit to Himachal.

In order to discuss on the second phase of the watershed project, the World Bank Country Director and Sector manager will be visiting Himachal Pradesh from 9th March to 11th March 2010.
