Convent of Jesus and Mary, Shimla

Convent of Jesus and Mary is one of the best schools we have in Shimla . This educational institution was established in 1864 with a noble cause to give shelter and impart knowledge to the orphans of the soldiers who died in the second world war. It has been doing the great job of educating young minds more than a century . CJM is situated in a place called navbahar ,it is the part of the green belt of Shimla so manages to be one of the most beautiful places in Shimla so far. Chelsea is the name of the campus on which the school is built so it is also called CHELSEA in short.Though the school follows Catholic traditions , students arefree to persue their respective faith.

It is an ICSE (International council of secondary education ) school for girls from kinder garten to matriculation level, and hopefully highschool too in the forecoming years.The education system also includes moral development of the students along with academics.

Slowly it grew from an orphanage to a boarding school for students who came from different parts of the world to study and live in the peacefull environment of shimla and then included the day scholars too. The school infrastructure is undoubtedly magnanimous and worth appreciating .It has beautifull gardens and big playing feilds which are regularly taken care of .The best part of the school is the church inside the campus and the old wooden building which is though renovated every year but still the grace and elegance of the old times remains untouched, they stand as the symbol of experience and excellence of the institution and its dedicated faculty.

The new costructed auditorium in CJM Shimla is the largest auditorium in north india. Chelsea is the only school which is awarded consecutively every year from the eco club shimla for its cleaniness and greenery. Campus also consists of a small fish pond and a well maintained nursery . The school dress consists of a white shirt , red tie , red jersey, grey skirt , red socks and black shoes or a short red divided skirt with a white tshirt which has CHELSEA written on its back. The girls no doubt look smart and presentable wearing this vibrant and rich colour.

The school provides great education where young minds are nurtured into confident personalities and one thing is for sure that the students of chelsea (CHELSEAITES) have always contributed a lot to the society being responsible citizens and assure to continue doing that. CJM has adopted a school for deaf and dumb children and takes care of the requirements of the students regularly.It can be rightly said that the school and its students are working on the school motto i.e.

DO NOT YIELD TO EVIL BUT FIGHT AGAINST IT !!
