Danger of Terrorist Attacks on Five Shakti Peeths in Himachal

Recently it has been reported that out of the 51 Shakti Peeths in India, the five Shakti Peeths in Himachal are under a threat of terrorist attack. The information has spread like a fire and has jolted the police authorities. Terrorists groups operating from Punjab have threatened to blast these five temples popularly called the Shakti Peeths in Himachal Pradesh during the ‘Navratras’ starting from 16th March, 2010.

It has been said that Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) received a fourteen line letter written in Devanagri script mentioning the threats of destroying the five Shakti Peeths in Himachal. The Himachal government has become more vigilant now and protection has been increased to a great level in and around the five Shakti Peeths, tourist spots and airports. Proper check will be kept on the visitors outside Himachal.

The five Shakti Peeths in Himachal that are under threat of terrorist attack are as follows:

1. Naina Devi Temple in the Bilaspur district.
2. Chintpurni Temple in the Una district.
3. Jawalamukhi Temple, Brijeshwari Temple and Chamunda Temple in the Kangra district.

During the days of ‘Navratras’ these temples in Himachal Pradesh are visited by lakhs of people coming from different parts of northern India like Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand etc. Looking into the security of people, Himachal government is now employing high security measures in the vicinity of these five Shakti Peeths in order to avoid any kind of mishappening. High alerts have also been regulated.
