Introduction of the Famous Old Kangra Fort

Kangra being the most populated district of Himachal Pradesh has witnessed many historical events. Many kings ruled this region and had their residence in Kangra in ancient days. The remains of their forts and palaces in Kangra still keep the history of the kings alive who came or ruled Kangra.

The devastating earthquake of very high density in 1905 shattered the Old Kangra Fort into pieces. Maximum percentage of the Kangra Fort infrastructure was destroyed. Only the side walls of the Old kangra Fort were able to resist the earthquake of 1905. Old kangra Fort is a protected monument maintained by the Arcaheological Survey of India.
