    Famous Temples in Rohru (Shimla).

    Rohru one of the famous Tehsils of Shimla district is famous for its temples and local deities. The resources gives a brief introduction about the famous temples in Rohru.


    Himachal is Popularly known as "Dev Bhoomi Himachal" means land full of Devi's and Devta's. Here I am introducing some temples situated in or near by Rohru. Rohru is a small tehsil under Distt. Shimla and here you can find majority of people who believe in Devi,Devta's thats why here you can find more then 30 temples. So i will try my level best to cover some of them were every one can easily plan to visit.

    1. Mata Hateshwari Temple in Rohru:

    This temple is situated in Hatkoti which is on the way to Rohru from Shimla and it's nearly 95 Kms from Shimla and 11 Kms from Rohru.
    The people of rohru believe that the temple established by:-Guru Adi Shankracharya.Some people also believe that the temple was built somewhere in the Third era. Three Gupta Age's Rock Edicts (in scripted stones) have been found at three different places of this ancient and historic place.

    2. Devta Morish Temple in Rohru:

    This temple is situated in Rantari Village of Rohru .It's nearly 15 Kms from Rohru , 125Kms from Shimla and at the height of 8000 feets.
    The temple is surrounded by mountains and it is believed that Devta "Morish" was found by an member of pandit family nearly 100 years back in near by river side and after some years the temple was built and it has completed more than 60 years. It's a nice place to plan out for picnic.A famous festival of Devta Ji's is called "Shant Mahayagya" which comes once after 15 years and in this festival nearly Devta's from 6,7 different villages come with round about 3,000 people to see it. It is supposed to be happen in the year 2011 after nearly 16 years.

    3.Shikru Devta Temple in Rohru:

    Shikru devta temple is situated in heart of Rohru. The temple is beautiful to see and it is believed that who so ever comes here with wishes and true heart gets what he/she has prayed from Devta ji. Temple is having a very old history with it. Shikru devta was found in Chandernahan lake in Chirgaon village which is 15Kms from Rohru and a very beautiful lake to see.Annual fair is celebrated during the month of april every year.

    4. Bakralu Devta Temple in Rohru:

    Bakralu Devta Temple is situated in Dalgaon Village near Rohru at a distance of about 20 Kms. A very famous Devta Ji's festival is celebrated here in this village named as "Bhunda Mahayajya"
    It is Believed that in year when this festival is celebrated it brings a healthy crop of Apple which is main source of income here. Festival comes once nearly after every 10 or 12 years. This temple is located in very beautiful location surrounded by Jungles and mountains.

    5. Lankra Veer Temple in Rohru:

    Lankra Veer Temple is situated at Hatkoti ,95 Kms from Shimla in the way to Rohru. Temple is built at top of the Hill from where you will see equal view from all four sides . The temple location gives an excellent view of near by villages of Jubbal.

    6. Giri Ganga Temple Rohru:

    Giri Ganga Temple temple is situated in Kharapathar ,70 Kms from Shimla on the way to Rohru.It is temple of mata Kalli . It is located between a very packed Jungle of Deodhar tree.
    It is nearly at the height of 10000 feet from sea level and a very cold region. Tourist usually visits this place to enjoy the weather and view of this beautiful temple and place.
