Chandernahan Lake in Rohru-A Perfect Destination to Trek in Himachal.

Chandernahan lake is situated in between beautiful snowy mountains at the height of 4,000 meters(approximately)from sea level in Rohru tehsil of Shimla district.To reach Chandernahan lake you first need to reach Rohru which is at a distance of 120 Kms from Shimla.From Rohru there is a road facility to village Tangnu & village Janglikh. These villages are also good to see if you are interested in knowing the actual traditional culture of Himachal Pradesh. From the village Tangnu it takes nearly 8 hours trek to complete your journey to Chandernahan lake.While doing trekking you will reach Litham Thach in between nearly after a trek of 3 or 4 hours. The word "Thach" means the a large plane area in hilly areas where goats and other animals used to eat grass , but this tradition is almost ended now with advancements.In this beautiful thach you will definately get the feel of heaven.Now on continuing your trek from here will lead you to Beautiful Chandernahan lake in 3 hours.

What makes Chandernahan Lake Special?

1. The river Pabbar originates from here,which cultivates a large area of Rohru.

2. There is a water fall of about 30 meters before it converts in to regular flowing water of river Pabbar.

3. It is the birth place of Devta Shikru. The temple of Devta ji is situated in the Heart of Rohru.This is very beautiful temple.

Here in the lake site camps can be organized which will give you more time to interact with nature.

Due to a height of 4,000 meters this lake area is covered by snow for most of time (approximately for 8 months in a year). Best time to plan trekking to Chandernahan is after the month of June to month of September(depending on weather conditions). So before planning out to trek to Chandernahan proper information from Tourism department should be gathered.
