Brief Introduction of Famous Kullu Valley, Himachal Pradesh:

Kullu-Manali is world-wide famous for its beautiful scenic valley and cool and pleasant environment. Kullu valley lies between the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges. It is believed that waters of the river Beas created the wide Kullu valley. Earlier Kullu was known as 'Kulluth' and 'Kulanthapitha'. The famous village Malana which is known as the oldest democracy in the world is also situated in Kullu districtSurrounded by high peaked snow capped mountains makes Kullu valley look really beautiful and mesmerizing. Kullu is situated at a height of 1220 metres.

Kullu valley is popularly known as the 'Silver Valley' because of the high fertility of land in Kullu valley. Apple orchards and various dry fruits are the specialty of Kullu valley. Kullu is also famous for the adventure sports like- snow sports, skiing, white water rafting, and fishing. Tourists from all over the country and worldwide too come to enjoy these sports.

Number of luxury hotels can be seen in Kullu valley for the sake of visitors viz. Hotel Saravari, Hotel Silvermoon etc.. One can visit Kullu all around the year as the climate over here is always pleasant. Winters are too chilly so woolens are needed. Local residents of Kullu sell self made socks, shawls, glubs, coats, caps etc. These local woolens in Kullu are called 'Pude'(Kind of slippers), 'Bushehri Topi (cap)', 'Chadru '(shawl), 'Sadri' (half jacket) etc. These hand woven items are good source of income to the people in Kullu.

Mostly the people in Kullu valley are Hindu. language spoken in Kullu is Hindi and Pahari. Kullu is famous for its fantastic and holy temples and local Devi and Devtas. Temples like Bijli Mahadev, Temple Raghunath, Shamshar Mahadev, Skerin etc. are very famous in Kullu valley. Every year several fairs and festivals are organized in Kullu valley as a tribute to the Devi and Devtas, Kullu Dusshera being the world famous.
