Famous Temples in Kullu

Kullu is famous for its Devi Devtas and temples. Local residents perform many rites and rituals for their deities. Every year many fairs and festivals are organized in Kullu district like Kullu Dusshera, Ani Mela etc. During such fairs and festivals dozens of Devi Devtas come to meet each other from different parts of Kullu riding on their palanquins by their special devotees called 'Kardars'. The temples in Kullu have fantastic architectures and one can find mostly idols of stone in the temples. There are many famous temples in Kullu and have a unique history behind them.

Some Famous Temples in Kullu are:

1. Raghunath Temple in Sultanpur, Kullu. Raghunath temple is dedicated to Lord Rama.

2. Bijli Mahadev Temple which is 14kms from Kullu. Bijli Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

3. Basheshwar Mahadev Temple in Bajaura, Kullu.

4. Vaishno Devi Temple which is 4 kms from Kullu.

5. Devi Jagannaathi Temple at Bekhli, Kullu (5 kms from Kullu).

6. Vishnu Temple at Dayar, Kullu. (12kms from Kullu).

7. Skerin Temple at Skerin which few kilometres from Jalori Jot. Skerin temple is dedicated to Shringi Rishi.

8. Shamshar Mahadev in Ani tehsil of Kullu. The temple is dedicated to one of Lord Shiva's incarnation.

9. Hadimba Devi Temple in 'Old Manali'.

10. Manu Temple in 'Old Manali'.
