Biography of Captain Amol Kalia- Martyr from Himachal in Kargil War

Captain Amol Kalia was born on 26 February, 1974 in Nangal which is in district Una of Himachal Pradesh. Martyr Amol Kalia passed his 12th class from Fertilizer Model School Nangal. Amol Kalia passed the entrance exam of National Defense Academy in April 1994. During the same interval of time Amol Kalia also passed the entrance exam of Engineering, but Amol Kalia decided to join National Defense Academy rather than Engineering.

Amol Kalia became Sub- Lieutenant on January 21, 1996. During Kargil war in 1999 Captain Amol Kalia has given the task to free peak point 5203 which had the height of 16000 feet along with 14 soldiers. In this battle with Pakistani's soldiers which lasted about 24 hours Captain Amol Kalia got to martyrdom. On 15 August, 1999 Captain Amol Kalia was honored with 'Veer Chakra' posthumously for his bravery during Kargil war by the President of India.
