    Famous Festivals of Himachal Pradesh

    Various festivals are celebrated in Himachal Pradesh. Some of them are discribed below:-

    1. DIWALI festival is the main and most popular festival celebrated in Himachal Pradesh.It is celebrated in the month of October/November. In this festival Lakshmi pooja is done in the evening. In Himachal women cook a specialdish to eat called "Ancleya"at diwali's night which is made by the rice.

    2. Holi festival is the second most popular festival of Himachal Pradesh which is held in march of every year. This is a festival of colors. The people buy colors and new calenders from various shops. And celebrate this festival with purity and happiness. This festival is celebrate remember of Holika aunt of Prahlad.

    3. Lohri festival celebrate in the month of January in every year. Lohri festival is celebrated for seven days continuously. On Lohri festival the children sing various poems in every house of the every town. In the last day of Lohri people Distribute sweets, groundnuts, Gachhak etc. to the children and a fire on a center place of town is lit at night and people dance around it. This is a festival of happiness.

    4. Dussehra celebrations in Kullu district of Himachal are internationally famous. Hundreds of local Devi-Devtas gather in the Kullu ground during Dusshera. Dusshera festival is held in Kullu with great pump and show. The Ramleela is played for nine days and the tenth day is the Dussehra. At this night a great function is celebrate in district Kullu.

    5. Rakshabandhan is a function that is celebrate in the month of August of every year. On this festival the sisters tie a band on his brother's hand for his safety and brother gives various gift to there sister. And sister pray to God for his brother's safety.
