Lord Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) Temple, Nyniampa Monastery and Statue in Rewalsar(Mandi):

Lord Padmasambhava also known as Guru Rinpoche in Tibet meditated in Rewalsar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. Lord Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) also known as 'Second Buddha'. In Rewalsar there is Nyingampa Monastery, Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) temple and a huge statue of Lord Padmasambhava(Guru Rinpoche) which signifies the spreading of Buddhism in Himachal Pradesh. According to history Lord padmasambhava visited rewalsar to preach the teaching of Buddhism to Mandhrava the daughter of King. Lord Padmasambhava was burnt alive by the King in Rewalsar, but to his astonishment 'Second Buddha' Lord Padmasambhava converted that flame into a lake known as Rewalsar Lake and emerged from the lake on Lotus stalk. The King and His Ministers astonished by powers of Padmasambhava devoted themselves to teaching of Buddha's.

In Rewalsar there is a huge statue (idol) of Lord Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) which is about 150 feet in height. The huge idol of Lord Padmasambhava(Guru Rinpoche) is located in 'Tohilia Rey Ghar' which is at walking distance of 25 minutes from Rewalsar Lake. In Himachal Pradesh this idol of Padmasambhava is one of the largest idols (statue) of its own kind.
