Another step of appreciation by Himachal Govt. to make the state Open Defecation Free by end of 2010

The programme of making Himachal an Open Defecation Free State was started a decade ago and now the results of it are really astonishing, as almost 80 % of Himachal has become Open Defecation Free presently. Mostly every house in Himachal has their personal toilets.

However, still 20% of the people in Himachal cannot afford to build personal toilets and still have to do open defecation. In order to make Himachal 100% Open Defecation Free State by the end of 2010, Himachal govt. has decided to pay a sum of Rs. 2250 to all the BPL families in Himachal to build the personal toilets in their home. This sum of Rs. 2250 will be given only to those families in Himachal who are unable to build toilets out of financial problem. For this, Indian govt. has prepared the budget for the respective DRDA departments.

In Hamirpur district of Himachal there are in total 19,514 BPL families. Out of these some have build personal toilets but many have been unable to do that. This sum of Rs. 2250, will be soon given to them by Himachal govt. Hope this fantastic move by Himachal govt. to make Himachal an Open Defecation Free State by the end of year 2010 is accomplished.
