    Dharamshala-Perfect Tourist Destination in Himachal Pradesh

    Introduction to Dharamshala in Kangra District:


    Lying in the lap of beautiful snow capped Dhauldhar mountain ranges is the fantastic place in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh known as Dharamshala. In the year 1855, Dharamshala was recognized as the headquarters of Kangra district. Dharamshala is situated at a height of about 1300-1770 metres above the sea-level. Dharamshala, starts from the War Memorial Monument to famous Mcleodganj .One can see mixed culture of Indian and Buddhsits in Dharamshala, as scuh, Dharamshala has turned out to be a mixture of Indo-Tibetan culture. From Dahramshala one can get a mesmerizing view of the beautiful Kangra valley surrounded by Dhauladhar spurs.

    Famous International Cricket Stadium situated in the heart of the Dharamshala city is one of the eye catching features of Dharamshala city. On April 16 and April 18, 2010 , IPL-3 matches were held in Dharamshala cricket stadium. Mcleodganj, on of the internationally famous place is just a few kilometers from Dharamshala. Every year thousands of tourists from all over the world and even Hollywood actors, rock stars etc. visit Mcleodganj. The main reason for the celebrities visiting Mcleodganj is due to the presence of residence of Dalai Lama who settled in Mcleodganj in 1962.

    There are various beautiful tourist spots around Dharamshala like Buddha temple situated opposite to Dalai lama's abode, Dharamshala International Cricket Stadium, War Memorial Monument, St. John's Church, Dal lake, Bhagsunag temple and many others. In the past few decades Dharamshala has turned out to be one of the best tourist places in Himachal.
