      Pilgrim Places in Kangra District - Famous Temples of Kangra

      Kangra is famous for its renowned temples and pilgrimage. Chamunda Devi Temple, Jwalaji Temple, Bajreshwari Temple, Baijnath Temple, Chintpurni Mata, Kunal Pathari Maa. People from all over come in thousands to visit these temples.


      Himachal is also known as Dev Bhoomi because Himachal Pradesh has many temples and people are very sacred, religious and believe in God.

      Kangra Valley is situated in the northern part of Himachal Pradesh under the lap of snow capped Himalayas. The valley is beautiful and amazing with mesmerising flora and fauna. Kangra is one of the largest districts of Himachal. Kangra has many pilgrimage places. People from all over the state and country visit Kangra for pilgrimage. Jwalaji Maa, Chamunda Devi, Baijnath Temple, Kangra Temple, Chintpurni Mata are all situated in Kangra District.

      Chamunda Devi:

      Mata Chamunda Devi Temple is around 15 Kms from Dharamshala and 20 Kms from Palampur. It is located on the well connected highway between Dharamshala and Palampur. Riveret Baner flows along side the temple.

      How to Reach Chamunda Devi?

      The temple is well connected with road from Dharamshala, Kangara and Palampur. Hundreds of buses ply in the route.
      Buses from other states also ply to Chamunda. The Temple is also connected via narrow guage train from Pathankot. The Chamunda Mandir station is just 4 Kms from the temple. Nearest airport is Gaggal airport which is 25 Kms from Chamunda Mata Temple.

      Baijnath Temple:

      Shiv Temple in Baijnath is a very ancient temple. It was built in early 13th century.

      How to reach Baijnath Temple?

      Baijnath is again well connected via road. Vast network of HRTC and other state transport run buses in this route. It is also connected with narrow guage train and the nearest airport again is Gaggal airport which is around 55 Kms.

      Bhagsu Nag Temple:

      The temple is located in Upper Dharamshala 2 Kms from Mcleodganj amidst lush green Pine and Deodar trees and under the picresque Dhauladhar range of Himalayas.

      Kunal Pathari Mata:

      It is located just 5 Kms from Dharamshala amidst pine trees and tea gardens on the saraha road. Kapaleshwari Mata temple is very ancient and beautiful

      Chinmaya Tapovan Ashram:

      This beautiful and peaceful Ashram is located in Sidhpur, around 6 Kms from Dharamshala. The Ashram is completely surronded by pine trees and gives a feeling of completeness and calmness.

      Since Dharamshala is very well connected by road and air from Delhi and other major cities, it is very easy to reach Bhagsu Nag temple, Kunal Pathari and Tapovan Ashram.

      Jwalaji Temple:

      The temple is dedicated to the Goddess of Light. Situated in the Kangra district on Dharamshala - Delhi highway, it is around 50 Kms from Dharamshala. There are blue flames coming out from sacred rocks for centuries which are being worshiped

      Chintpurni Mata Temple:

      This temple is situated near Mubarakpur and is around 45 Kms from Una and 25 Kms from Jwalaji Temple.

      Brajeshwari Temple in Kangra Town:

      This temple is located in Kangra town around 20 Kms from Dharamshala.

      Ashtbhuja Mata Temple:

      The temple is located in Sudher 5 kms from Dharamshala.
