Himachal Pradesh is not only famous for hills but also for its vast, unique and diverse culture. Different dialects are spoken in different parts and various unique dishes are prepared in different parts of Himachal. Kangra is one of the largest districts of Himachal and people here enjoy many different dishes like, Lungru Vegetable, Saag and Bhuju, Khoru, Babru, Bhaturu, etc.

Kangra is one of the largest districts of Himachal and people here enjoy many different dishes like, Lungru Vegetable, Saag and Bhuju, Khoru, Babru, Bhaturu, etc.

Bhuju Dish of Kangra:

The recepie of Bhuju is simple. It is made of leaves of Mustard or Spinach. Leaves are chopped and then fried in a pan with heated mustard oil along with seeds of coriander, red chillies and garlic.

Ambua Dish of Kangra:

It is a dish of locally available Mangoes. Take few ripe mangoes, peel them off. Alternatively take a pan and heat after pouring mustard oil. Put coriander seeds(sabut dhania), red chillies, cumin seeds and garlic and onion paste. Heat it well and then put the mangoes in the paste. Heat further, mangoes will become soft. Add sugar and salt according to the taste.

Chhachha Dish of Kangra:

Another dish made of mangoes. The mangoes used to make Chhachha are raw and sour. Peel of few raw mangoes and take equal amount of onion. Gring them together and add green chillies, salt and sugar according to the taste. The dish is more used as Chutney and not the main dish.

Lungru Dish of Kangra:

Lungru is a type of fern available only in hilly regions. It has a unique taste. Its appearance is also very different. A small stem which has a curled head like Jalebi with small hair like outer areas.
Preparation is very simple. Just wash Lungrus, clean them with cloth to remove the hair. Cut into small pieces and then fry in a pan with mustard oil.

Another famous traditional dishes of Kangra include Lasiada, Nashpati, Trembla, Khatta saag, Patroda,Chutney of Braha Flowers, Seera etc.

nice dishes. You can also add the saag and bhartha.
