Himachal Pradesh University Completes 40 years

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) located in Summerhill, Shimla is one of the oldest universities in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh University was founded on 22nd July 1970. On July 22nd 2010, HPU celebrated its 40th Foundation day with Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal being the cheif guest. With a strength of about 3500 students in HPU, the university has been provising quality education.

Himachal Pradesh University is famous for its fantastic library, the cheapest hostels any university can provide and above all many famous personalities it has produced. Hamid Karzai, the president of Afghanistan has been the alumni of HPU in 1970's. Renowned cine star, Anupam Kher also did some part of his academics in HPU. J.P. Nadda, Anand Sharma and many other politicians have passed from HPU .

In order to improve the inadequate infrastructure of HPU, a budget of Rs. 50 crore has been marked as said by Akshay Sood, special secretary finance.
