More tourists in Himachal in 2010 as compared to 2011.

Estimates have shown that tourist visiting Himachal Pradesh in the year 2010 have exceeded the figures of 2011. Tourists come from plain regions to Himachal to get rid of hot temperatures and this number has increased this year. Last year about 67 lakh tourist visited Himachal Pradesh. In 2010, 79 lakhs tourists have been reported to visit Himachal Pradesh till the June end. This figure would have crossed 1 crore if the climatic conditions in Leh, Manali and Kullu would have been better.

Shimla has been reported to have the maximum tourists till June, 2010. About 16 lakhs tourist visted Shimla. Kullu remained the second best tourist spot in 2010 after Shimla with 14 lakh 36 thousand tourist visiting. 9.97 tourists visited Kangra in 2010 placing it the third most visited place by tourists in 2010. Government of Himachal Pradesh has stated that if development and proper care of famous tourist spots is done then it could increase the number of tourists visiting Himachal every year. This will definitely increase the revenue coming from tourism sector.
