Sujanpur Holi Fair Promoted from State-level to National-level Fair!

The famous Holi fair held in Sujanpur region of Hamirpur district is quite popular throughout the state. The history of Sujanpur Holi fair tells that it is being celebrated for the past 225 years. Processions of several local deities in their palanquins can be witnessed during the Sujanpur Holi fair. Various programmes are organized during Sujanpur Holi fair including folk dances.

Till now, Sujanpur Holi fair was regarded as a State level fair of Himachal Pradesh and this status was given to it in the year 1984. But now Sujanpur Holi fair has been accorded the status of National level fair of India by Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Urmila Singh. Moreover, Sujanpur Holi fair has become the only fair of Himachal Pradesh to be given the national level status. It is a matter of great pride for Himachal that its traditional fair of Holi in Sujanpur will now be nationally known and will definitely attract more visitor across the country. The Sujanpur Holi fair to be held in 2011 would be now a national level fair.
