    Himachal’s contributions in many forms in Commonwealth Games, 2010 in Delhi!

    Commonwealth Games, 2010 one of the largest sports event ever hosted by India is just a day away from its opening ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Hundreds of athletes from 72 countries will be participating in the Commonwealth Games, 2010 and will compete for the medals. Himachal Pradesh will have its own special role by contributing in variety of forms in Commonwealth Games, 2010.

    During the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games, 2010 Himachali artists will perform the Kangri folk dance, 'Jhamakri' and Kullu's folk dance 'Natti'. 35 artists from Himachal have been invited to give their performance in the opening Ceremony of Commonwealth Games, 2010. Moreover, the famous 'Handkerchief of Chamba' popularly known as 'Chamba's Roomal' which is hand made with beautiful embroidery and designs can become the token of remembrance of medal winners in Commonwealth Games, 2010.

    If Himachal gets the permission for the 'Chamba Roomals' for Commonwealth Games 2010 it will make a handsome earning for the people involved in making 'Roomals' in Chamba. The cost of thee handkerchiefs vary according to design and size and costs starts from Rs. 500. Medal winners from various nation in Commonwealth Games, 2010 will take away 'Chamba's Roomal' as token of remembrance with them if Indian organizers gives its approval. This will increase the popularity of 'Chamba's Roomal' worldwide. Also, Himachal is planning to send flowers of worth Rs. 30 crores for the welcome and closing ceremony of Commonwealth Games, 2010.
