Kunihar is a valley in Solan district.

Kunihar is a fast growing valley situated between the mountains of Solan District.
Kunihar is also Known as Choti Vilayat and Hatkot. Kunihar was named by RAJIV GANDHI . He found this small valley surrounded by a small river named as KUNI and this river was in the shape of garland (translated as Haar)so he named it KUNIHAR during one of his visits.

Kunihar was founded in 1154 by Abhoj Raghubanshi a Rajput of Akhnoor in Jammu. Kunihar is well known for the famous cave of BHOLE NATH known as "DYARS".The cave is 25 K.M long and Connects ARKI.The branch of JWAHAR NAVODYA VIDHYALAYA is also situated near KUNIHAR about 3 K.M towards NALAGARH.The people of Kunihar are very innocent and kind hearted .

The distance from Kunihar to Shimla is 35 K.M on the way to JUBARHATTI while it is 40 k.m from Solan via SUBATHU.The distance from Kunihar to Nalagarh is 60 K.M (approx).The transportation facilities are good.One can find busses easily from nearby stations.
