here is the history about the present capital- SHIMLA- of himachal pradesh. also known as- THE QUEEN OF THE HILLS

the history of shimla dates back to the year 1819. before that, it was under Gurkha's rule. britishers fought a Gurkha war and after that they found a dense forest near the temple of GODDESS SHYAMALA and named it SHIMLA. Some historians contradict it saying that it is derived from word- shyamala meaning blue house based on blue slate house by a fakir. after independence it was capital of punjab. but in 1966, it was titled as capital of hp
