      India is a cultural land with various religions, castes and each of them have festivals representing them,which form the major holidays in himachal pardesh.


      Repualic day-
      january 26 marks the anniversary of the adoption of the constitution in 1950 and is india's national day.
      Shivatri-
      The birth anniversary of lord shiva.
      Holi-
      It heralds the end of winter. Men,women and children revel in throwin coloured powder and squirting coloured water on each other.
      Mahavir jayanti-
      The anniversary of the birth of vardhamana mahavira,the twenty-fourth tirthankara, more than 2,500 years ago.
      Good friday-
      Services and recitals of religious music are held in hundreds of churches all over india.
      Baisakhi-
      The hindu solar new year day. Baisakhi is of special significance of the sikhs.
      Himachal day-
      Himachal day is celebrated on 15th of april.
      Buddha purnima-
      Marks the birth and enlightenment of gautama buddha.
      Janmashtami-
      The birth anniversary of lord krishna.
      Independence day-
      August 15 marks the anniversary of independence in 1947 and is celearated with due solemnity.
      Dussehra and durga puja-
      A ten day long festival.
      Gandhi jayanti-
      october 2,the birth anniversary of mahatma gandhi, the father of the nation.
      Diwali-
      The festival of lights, it comes 21 days after dussehra and celebrates the returm of rama to ayodhya after his 14-year exile.
      Guru nanak jayanti-
      Birth anniversary of guru nanak who founded the sikh faith.
      Chidren's day-
      November 14, the birth anniversary of jawaharlal nehru is celebrated through out the country as children's day.
      Id-ul-fitr -
      Celebrates the end of ramzan, the muslim month of fasting.
      Christmas -
      celebrated by christions and non-christians alike with special enthusiasm.
      These are the major holidays of himachal pardesh.
