Adventurous Sports in Himachal pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is not only famous for its valleys and mountain ranges but also for the adventurous sports which are associated with this state. These are some sports which are very famous in Himachal Pradesh.

Mountaineering

Mountaineering is a sport which is very famour among the people of Manali. Not only this, the mountaineering institute at Manali also helps the tourists to learn Mountaineering. The mountaineering institutions are also situated at Dharamsala, Bharmaur and Jispa which include the mountaineering and other adventures courses as well.

Rock climbing

Rock climbing is another sport which is very popular in Himachal Pradesh. Even the Defense personals come to HP to learn Rock climbing. The terrains of rocks especially in the places like Patalsu, Bharmaur and Manali provides a platform for visitors to enjoy rock climbing.

Trekking

It is another sport which provides excellent opportunity for trekking in HP. Facilities such as camping gear etc are also present at different centers and hotels or rest houses to provide a comfortable stay for Trekkers.

Hang Gliding

Hang Gliding is also popular in some places of Himachal Pradesh. Three main National Hang Gliding Rally were held in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. One was in 1985, the other was in 1986 and the third one in 1987. These three rallies of Hand gliding brought a thrill among the people of HP and now this is a sport which is experienced by many tourist who come to HP.

Water Sports

Rafting is a common water sport which is played in the Satluj, Chandrabhaga and Beas River in HP. Also the Pandoh and Pong lakes in Hp are associated with other water sports.

Skiing

Skiing is the most popular sport during the season when the snow falls. The mountaineering institute of Manali also provides Ski courses during these days. At this time in Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation also organizes similar courses.
