How to obtain Driving License in Himachal Pradesh

If you wish to drive any vehicle in Himachal Pradesh or any other part of India you must hold a valid driving license issue by the transport authority of the area you belongs to. Indian Laws does not permit any one to drive a motor vehicle or a transport, commercial vehicle in public place without license.

Age Limit for obtaining Driving License

If you wish to drive a vehicle and want to apply for a license you must have attained the age of 18 years for a motor vehicle. However you must be 20 years of age if you want license for driving a transport.

How to apply for Learner's Driving License in Himachal Pradesh– Online Forms

For getting a permanent Driving License you need to first apply for the Learner's License. You can download the form online and fill it.

Download form 2 from the official website for Learner's license. Read the instructions carefully before filling in the form 2 for Learner's License. Attach the documents required along with the application form.

Medical Certificate in Form No. 1-A
or declaration in Form 1, as the case may be

3 copies of the recent Passport size Photograph

Fee of Rs. 30/- for each class of vehicle

While submitting the form 2 for Learner's license the applicant must be present before the licensing authority for preliminary test. You would be issued a Learner's License by the transport authority that shall be valid for 6 months

How to obtain Permanent Driving License after Learner's License in Himachal Pradesh Online Form

After getting the Learner's License you can enroll yourself in a driving school and learn driving and when you are confident that you have learned the art of driving then you can apply for the Permanent License.

You need to submit a fresh application for the Permanent License. For obtaining Permanent license download form 4 from the official site free of cost and fill it along with documents required.

Fee for Permanent Driving License License

Rs. 40.00 in case the Driving Licence is in Form 6
Rs. 200.00 (including the cost of computerized chip) in case of Driving Licence is to be issued in Form No. 7
You must also attach 3 copies of the your recent passport size photograph along with the Medical Certificate in Form 1A - Where required

Driving Test for Permanent Driving License
Before the permanemt license is issued you that you pass driving test/ physical competence test. The tests will be conducted by licensing authority of your area on a vehicle of the type you have applied for subject to payment of Rs. 50.00 as competency fee.
