The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (COVAS) Palampur is located in the campus of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Agriculture University, Palampur, Himchal Pradesh, The college was established in 1986 by the State Government to impart the education and research in the field of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (COVAS) is duly accredited by the ICAR and approved by the Board of Management of the University.
The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (COVAS) engaged in imparting the higher education to the Veterinary professionals involved in looking after the livestock production and health in the country as well as in managing the livestock based business. Collage playing vital role to improve the skills and competence of the field Veterinarians in areas like Animal health and health care systems, Bio-safety, Veterinary public health, livestock production technologies, animal welfare and care of wild animals and international regulations etc.
The collage has sufficient infrastructure to facilitate the student as per standard laid by Veterinary Council of India. As such the college has sixteen departments namely Animal Production, Anatomy & Histology, Veterinary Physiology & Pharmacology, Veterinary Microbiology, Pathology & Parasitology, Veterinary Surgery & Gynaecology, Animal Nutrition, Animal Breeding & Genetics including Biostatistics, Fisheries, Livestock Production & Management, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education and Veterinary clinical Medicine & Epidemiology. Apart from that the collage also has two services Unit - Dairy Farm and Veterinary Clinics.

(A)Bachelor in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry – 5years.
Eligibility / Essential Qualification:
(i) The Higher Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of12 years of study the last two years of study with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Education Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 (years) educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.
(ii) The Intermediate Science examination in science from a recognized
University/Board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (which shall include a
practical test in these subjects) and English.
Minimum marks: To be eligible for AIPVT, candidate must have passed any of the qualifying examinations as enumerated above. Further, he/she should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for General Category in aggregate in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English at 10+2 /Intermediate Science Examination. Provided also that to be eligible for AIPVT the candidate must have passed the aforesaid subjects individually. For the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/the Scheduled Tribes or other special category (Other Backward Classes) of students as specified by the
Government from time to time, marks required for admission shall be 10% less than that prescribed for General Category.
(B) Master in Veterinary Science in 12 disciplines - 2years.
Eligibility / Essential Qualification:Bachelor degree in Veterinary Science.
(C) Doctor of Philosophy in 04 disciplines - 2years.
Eligibility / Essential Qualification:Master degree in Veterinary Science.
