Following is the description of Transportaion in Himachal Pardesh. All three modes of transportation that is Road, Rail and Air is described.Main mode of passenger transportation is by road through buses.Main Mode of goods transportation is also by road through trucks.

Introduction:

Following is the description of Transportaion in Himachal Pardesh. All three modes of transportation that is Road, Rail and Air is described .

A. Road Transportation:

Roads are the life line of transportation system of Himachal Pardesh. Roads bus transportation are divived in two main categories:

1. Government Buses managed by Himachal Road Transportation Corporation.

2. Private buses managed by private players.

Himachal Road Transportation Corporation: Popularly known as HRTC is state owned transportation company and ply buses within the state and out of the state. This is one of the biggest transport company in the Himachal Pardesh and well connect the Himachal Pardesh to the nearby states like Punjab, Jammu, Haryana, Delhi etc.

Private players: There are numbers of private players who ply buses within the states. One of the bigger name in the private players in "New Prem Bus Service, Nagrota Bagwan". They ply buses to almost every districs of the Himachal Pardesh.

B. Rail Transportation:

Himachal Pardesh are not well connected by rail network and very few places are benefited by rail network. There are only two trains tracks in Himachal Pardesh:

1. The Pathankot–Jogindernagar line connects Punjab with Himachal Pradesh.

2. The other track is Kalka-Shimla, which passes through Shimla, Solan and una.

C. Air Transportation:

Himachal Pardesh is also lacks in Air Transport. Following are the three airports in the Himachal Pardesh:

1. Shimla Airport

2. Bhuntar Airport

3. Gaggal Airport

The air routes connect the state with Delhi and Chandigarh.

Transportation of Goods: The only mode of goods transportaion in Himachal Pardesh is by road through trucks.
