Difference between Orbits and Orbitals

In this article i give you the points of difference between orbits and orbitals. Here you can find its definition and all his concepts. The orbits and orbitals are basic similar but the meaning of these two points are different and these are represent by many method.

Orbits

Definition : Orbits are well defined circular path in which electrons are present revolving around the nucleus.

Some important points of Orbits
1. It can be represented in two dimensional motions.
2. It is the concept of Bohr model atomic theory.
3. It can be represented by k,l,m,n shell.
4. These do not show directional characteristics.
5. It is not according to the uncertainty principle.
6. The maximum number of electrons you can find in orbits is 2n square.
7. It can be drawn only circular shape.

Orbitals

Definition : These are revolving the outside of the nucleus.

Some important points of Orbitals
1. It can be represented in three dimensional motions.
2. It is the concept of quantum number.
3. It can be represented by s,p,d,f shell.
4. It shows directional characteristics.
5. It is according to the uncertainty principle.
6. The maximum number of electron you can find in orbital is 2 electrons.
7. It can be drawn into many different shapes.
