1. historical information :- dr.y.s.parmar university of horticultuer and forestry,solan was established on 1st december 1985 with the objective to promot education,research and extension education in yhe field of horticultuer,forestry and allied disciplines.

dr.y.s.parmar is the university of horticultuer and forestry.the university is located near to solan city in himachforestry dr.y.s.parmar universty is rank 2 university in woarld.the university of horticultuer and forestery is located at nirmal gram pancaut nauni in solan distt. of himachal pardesh.it is 13 km form solan on solan rajgarh main road.the university has a faculty of 237 teachers out of witch 169 teachers are posted.the university library named is satya nand stokes.at present stock of books is 42769 .al pradesh.other branch of this universitu at neri in hamirpur distt. in himachal pardesh. this is a residential university and all the student are required to reside in the hostels,unless other wise permitted.the student welfear organization of the university attends to the residential requirements,sport,cultural activity,nss,nccand medical care of the students.university has two constituent collages locted ay the main campus.one for horticutuer and other for forestry.the university is located in solan distt. solan town is situated on kalka shimla national highway (nh-22)and is connected by trin.
