About Hamirpur District
The Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh is famous in educational institutions. It is situated in the average height of 400 meters to 1100 meters. It is situated 76 degree 18' to 76 degree 44' to east longitude and 31 degree 5' to 31 degree 52' in North latitude. It becomes the district of Himachal Pradesh in 1972. The all famous institute of Himachal Pradesh and India was situated here. The NIT collage the famous collage of India was situated in Hamirpur town. The famous temple of India is also situated in here. The name of the temple is Baba Balak Nath Temple.
Places of Interest in Hamirpur District
Hamirpur: It was established by King Hamir Chand. It is famous for educational institutes like NIT (National Institute of Technology), Polytechnic collage and other educational institutions. Temples of Gasota Mahadev which is 8kms from Hamirpur bus stand and Mattan Sidh which is five kilometers from Hamirpur bus stand are other its famous places for tourist.
Sujanpur Tihra: It is situated on the bank of Beas 27km away from Hamirpur on Hamirpur – Palampur road. Katoch King Abhay Chand got it constructed and made capital in 1748 A.D. There are five ancient temples in Sujanpur. A Sainik School is also located here. A fort and some temple built by Raja Sansar Chand (Successor of Abhay Chand) are also located here. State level holy festival is held in Sujanpur.
Naduan: It is situated on the bank of Beas, 25 kms away from Hamirpur, on Hamirpur – Kangra road. Freedom fighter Yashpal belongs to Bhumpal near Naduan. Bikeshwar temple was constructed by Pandavs, is also here.
Deot Sidh: It is religious place on the border of Hamirpur and Bilaspur. The famous temple of India was built here named Baba Balak Nath temple.
