Education has become a universal demand of the time as it is an important social activity planned and shared by parents, social committees and members of the community. Education is a process, which does all round development of the individual to modify his behaviour, attitude and thinking.

Meaning Concept of Mathematics

From the ancient times, mathematics has been considered the basis of knowledge. Mathematics is one of teh languages of human life and certinly no other marvelous language was ever created by the mind of man. Mathematics is teh need of everybody. We connot live without it even a single day. Mathematics is necessary for various vocation, but to every student should be provided the knowledge of mathematics at the early stage of his schooling. There is hardly any attribute where the contribution of mathematics has not been utilized. It is a self contained mental discipline, with its own language, symbolism and structure. Mathematics makes a man honest e.g. he will never say 2x2= 5. A person having good mathematical knowledge is considered intelligent.

Where and When notaion Began

The question takes up back to the very begining of history. At least as back as 3000 BC, every Egyptianand Indian tried to put their steps in developing some sort of notation system for expressing numbers. The problem of writing numeral still remained unsolved. This difficulty was not overcome until Indian Mathematics appeared on the scene with their two great mathematical inventions Zero and place value system. These inventions played a miracle by making possible the writing of any number with the help of 10 symbols 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,6,7,8,9,0. In India during the period of AD 400 to 1200, a new branch as 'GANITA' came into existence, with the three separate components namely arithmetic, algebra and geometry.
The various branches of Mathematics are Arithematic, Trignometry, Geometry, Statistics and Algebra.
