Personality Development missing in most Himachal Schools

The culture of inculcating Team Building Spirit, Outdoor Adventure, Group Activities and Communication Skills are conspicuously missing in most of the Government, Private as well as Public schools in Himachal Pradesh.Parents and teachers must encourage such activities, in order to instill confidence in the students, so that they may stand tall viz a viz students from many other parts of our country.

Parents as well as teachers, seem to have a conservative outlook, when it comes to widening the horizons if the Himachal youth. I have observed a marked lack of interest in parents-teachers meets, which is perhaps the only forum, where such a vital issue can be discussed and implemented in the right Ernest.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS - The students of the hill state are known for the love of their mother tongue. Lesser importance is given to our national language, and the least attention is paid to the global link language- ENGLISH. The proficiency in Hindi and English is the pre-qualification for the Indian job markets. The knowledge of English comes along with many traits of personality. English can be taught as a spoken language in the schools. Debates, declamations and quiz contests can be organized to enhance the confidence level of the students.
OUTDOOR GROUP ACTIVITIES - Himachal students are much behind their counterparts in other states, as far as outdoor adventure activities are concerned. Short overnight outings, camping and other group activities do wonders in widening the horizons and providing them exposure which comes handy to face the 'real' world, later in their lives.
Keeping in mind the contemporary global scenario and the competitive spirit, it is the joint responsibility of the Parents and the teachers to prod the students and help them shed their inhibitions so that they can draw maximum benefit through communication skills and the outdoor activities. The supporting pictures (attached) speak a thousand words in explaining how students de-stress, entertain themselves and also enhance their confidence levels.
We all , at our levels must play our roles to ensure that our students should be able to face the world with tons of confidence, and they should be second to none.
