Kufri Mini Zoo

Kufri is one of the major tourist spot which is just 16 kms far from Shimla. In Kufri, a very popular mini zoo is common among the tourists. Here, one can find rare breed of wild animals of Himalayan region. Kufri Mini Zoo

The area of this zoo is spread over 20 hectares of land which has nearly 140 wild animals and 200 different species of birds. Monal is an endangered species of bird of Himalayan region which is a main attraction for the tourists.

Some species of animals such as leopard, Ghoral, Samber, Himalayan Thar, Yak and black bear are found in this zoo. In the year 1992, Himalayan Nature Park was set up in Kufri which is spread upto 90 hectaree of land. Later in this park this Mini zoo was constructed at a total cost of 5 crores. Kufri was popular for winter sports, but later on these sports shifted to other places like Narkanda and Shimla. The forest department then decided to utilize the area of Skiing and thus they constructed Mini zoo in the free open space.

Attractions in Kufri Mini Zoo

Different species of flora and fauna are the main attractions of tourists in Kufri Mini Zoo.

Some of the endangered species of animals and birds are also preserved in this zoo which attracts more and more people.

Tibetan wolf, Brown Bear and Barking Deer are some of the main attractions of tourists.

People often visit this zoo to look out the combine beauty of Himalayan flora and fauna.

How to reach Kufri Mini Zoo

By road:-
Kufri can be easily reached by means of by taxi or Government bus. This place is just 18 km away from the main town of Shimla.

By train:-
You can take Kalka-Shimla toy train to reach Shimla railway station. From there one can take taxi to reach Kufri Mini zoo.

By airways:-
The nearest airport to Kufri is Shimla Airport. You can prefer the airlines of Shimla and then reach Kufri by taxi or bus.
