About Lossar Festival

The Lossar festival is the festival of Tibetan which is generally celebrated in Lahul-Spiti district with great pomp and show. It is celebrated in many parts of the Himachal Pradesh like Manali, Shimla, Solan and Dharamshala. It is the New Year festival of the Tibetan. It is celebrated from mid-November to first week of December. This festival shows the beginning of winter season is started. Another name of this festival is Agrarian. This festival shows the culture value of Tibetan region. During the time of festival the deity is worshipped.
Dance is the major performance of this festival at night. Dance is the highlight of this festival. During this festival are marked by splendid performance specially dance. The name of the dance is Chham Dance. This festival shows the story of king Langdarma. The Langdarma is the cruel king of the Tibetan which was killed in 9th century. A special dance is organized at night during this festival named Devil Dance.
