Chaundi Mata temple in ChambaHere in this article we are talking about one of the oldest and religious temple of Chamba district which is known as Chaundi Mata temple, as there are so many temple in Chamba district out of which we are talking about one of them. This temple is about 3km from the chamba. Basically this article is divided into two parts, in first part history of temple is told and in the 2nd the part how to reach and nearby places around this temple are told.
History of the temple
This temple is situated on the top of the hill which can be seen from the main market of the Chamba. This temple is about 3 km from the Chamba on the Jhumar road. In this temple there is a statue of Chaundi Mata is placed, this temple was built in about 18th century and it is one of the oldest temple in Chamba district. So when you go to this temple then after reaching the main the gate, there is about 10 stairs for the main temple then you reached the main temple in which there is a statue of Chaundi Mata is placed, in front of this temple there is a small statue of Hanuman is placed which is always covered with pink color i.e. sindoor and in the back side of the main temple there is Shiv Ling is placed in the building and the architecture of the building is so good. Apart from this temple as it is situated on the top of the hill so there are many benches are made for the sitting, from where you can watch the whole view of Chamba city and from the left side you can see the Ravi River which is originating between the two mountains and you can also see the mountains which are always covered with snow.
How to reach and nearby places
This temple is about 3km from the Chamba on the Jhumar road; you can reach this place by bus or taxi. You can also reach this place by aero plane and the nearest airport is in the Gaggal which is about 80 km from this temple. Around this temple there are so many places like there is another temple which is about 500 meter from this temple which is known as Suhi Mata temple where a statue of Suhi Mata is placed and there is point view place from where you can see Ravi River which is about 300 meter from this temple. As it is situated on the top of the hill there always blows chilly wind so the best season to visit this temple in the summer because during that time this place is not so much cold but come with warm clothes.
