International Minjar festival
This festival is firstly held in the raja times, the story behind this festival is related to the love of brother and sister. When this festival begins on the last Sunday of July month then sister wear a minjar to her brother's shirt and after this week it is thrown in the river. So when this festival begins then in the night singers came and people enjoy the function, this is continue for seven days, various local and other singer came here and entertainment the people be singing the song. After one week i.e. on Sunday in the evening the raja of the chamba Sit on the Elephant and go to the Ravi River for flowing the Minjar ion the water, During that time various local Deva and Devata are taken across the road to the river and many people go to the river for flowing the minjar, and after that they came to back and in the night in chamba chowgan various cultural event takes place and people enjoy it. After this day it is continue for the next day in which people came here and brought the things. In this temple there are so many exhibition are held by organization to aware the people last time exhibition are held Kalatop wild life sanctuary, NHPC Chamera and agricultural department of the chamba.
This festival was firstly celebrated in the 17th century in the memory of daughter of Chamba raja which is Champavati, on her name this district is so called Chamba. Behind this festival there is a big story that why it is being celebrated. During that time period this little city is facing a major problem of water, there is no drinking water people have to go for about 5 to 6 km to take water. So one day in the night the raja saw a dream that if I give a sacrifice of my daughter then the problem of water can be solved, so next day raja invited a meeting and he told all the things that what he had seen in night dream, by hearing this all people get shocked but at that time raja think that if this problem can be solved by giving sacrifice of my daughter then all right I do that. So after one month the daughter of raja which is Sui have to be sacrifice on the Shah Madar Hill. So in her memory raja built a temple. And water is flowing in place called Rajnaun which is exactly below the temple, after that this festival is being celebrated in the memory of Sui, this festival is being celebrated in the month of the April for three days in which so many people came there, and on the last day the statue of Sui or another devi devata of Chamba are taken across the Chowgan bazaar and finally it is taken back to the temple.
