History of St. Francis's Zoo
This zoo was firstly made by the British government in the beginning of the 19th century. It is inaugurated by the British governor Lord Dalhousie. This named is so called St. Francis's because on the right side of this zoo there is church whose name is St. Francis's Church that's why it is so called. This church is basically famous of little insects. In this church, there are different types of mouse are present, different varieties of Parrot and sparrows are present. Apart from it there are also rabbit and ducks are present. In this zoo they also kept different varieties of cock. Apart from it on the left side of this zoo there are several varieties of flowers are present.
Nearby places for wondering
Basically this church is situated in Dalhousie, which is well known hill station. This city was developed by the British governor Lord Dalhousie that why it is so called Dalhousie. In this place there are so many places for the wondering like Shubash Chowk where a statue of Neta Ji Shubash Chandra Bose is made and there is also present a St. Francis's church. In Gandhi Chowk there is statue of Mahatma Gandhi is placed, also there is a St. John's church and in front of this there is small library is present. This place is also famous for Tibetan market. About 2km from this place there is Punchpulla where a small artificial lake is present where you can enjoy boating as well tracking. Apart from it there are so many hotels and restaurant are present. This place is basically famous for the heavy snowfall, in the month of December and January there is a snow fall.
How to reach this place
This place is about 50 km from the Chamba, you can reach this place by bus or taxi. The best season to visit this place is in summer and wears light cotton clothes.
